About T. S. Eliot

Poetry and modernism

T. S. Eliot became one of the central poets of literary modernism. “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock,” The Waste Land and Four Quartets helped reshape English-language poetry through fragmented voices, allusion and formal experiment.

Criticism and the stage

Eliot also wrote literary criticism, edited the Criterion, worked in publishing and wrote verse drama, including Murder in the Cathedral and The Cocktail Party. He received the 1948 Nobel Prize in Literature and died in London in 1965.
