Line 1

Line 1 is the energy of foundation: the part of a pattern that wants to know what is underneath before it trusts what is above. In traditional Human Design, this line is often linked with investigation, study, and security; another way to hold it is as a relationship with grounded knowing. When Line 1 is active in a chart, the invitation is not to become suspicious or endlessly prepared, but to let honest inquiry become steadiness. The shadow is trying to feel safe by knowing everything first; the gift is a settled base that can support real confidence, service, and wise discernment.
